Police want answers over Gagebrook laser pointer incident

Since the 7th of January 2021, Tasmania Police have received a number of reports in relation to green and red laser pointers being directed at traffic on the East Derwent Highway in the vicinity of Herdsmans Cove.

As a result of this behaviour, driver’s vision has been affected, placing them and other road users at risk.
“This type of behaviour is exceptionally dangerous and places road users at a greater risk of crashing due to obstructed vision” Sergeant Daniel Moore stated

“In addition to the road safety dangers, this also places vision of people at risk. Should anyone have any further information in relation to this matter, I ask that they contact Bridgewater Police”.

Any drivers who have had lasers pointed at them, or anyone else with information can contact Bridgewater Police on 131 444 or anonymously via CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperstas.com.au.
